Aflas

Aflas's (FEPM) place in the rubber world is that of a problem solver at a reasonable cost. While it is generally slightly more expensive than FKM or Vitonâ, it is also significantly (40 – 50 times) less expensive than other problem solvers Kalrezâ, or Chemrezâ. It is capable of higher temperatures than FKM or Vitonâ, and far more effective in steam, pulp and paper liquors, bases, engine oils, phosphate esters, aimines. It is also excellent with hydrogen sulphide, and natural gas.

Aflas Just as FKM, is an elastomeric compound made from copolymers.,What gives Aflas the advantage is that it is different from FKM in its composition. Different copolymers are used: tetrafluoroethylene and a propylene alternating copolymer. The result is these copolymers give Aflas higher operating temperatures and improved chemical compatibility.
Aflas (FEPM) is not suitable for use with aromatic fuels (i.e bezene, toluene or xylene), ketones or carbon tetrachloride.
Aflas is used in a wide range of industrial applications. A wide range of industries use the rubber materials as seals including food processing, nuclear power generation, thermal power generation, machinery, electronics, fuel, oil, gas, steam generation among many others. The physical properties of the material are the reason that makes it highly versatile and readily usable for most industrial purposes.
Aflas is often used as gaskets because of its excellent resistance capacity against coolants, organic acid technology and motor oils. It is also used in wires and cable construction because of its electrical resistance property. It allows manufacturers to use the rubber material to insulate and jacket cables for safety purposes.
Because of its high chemical resistance, Aflas is also used in construction of shaft seals as it is a good resistive material against oxidation inhibitors, abrasion inhibitors and dispersants. It is used in the construction of o-rings, sealants, valve seals, oil and gas seals, pulp and paper liquor applications, flexible joints, hose and other components. Aflas has high resistance against reactive organic and inorganic chemicals. FEPM is much more cost effective with a slew of positive properties which has made it a popular choice among many industries, including automotive, manufacturing and chemical industries.

Temperature Range:

  • Viton / FKM -15°F to 400°F – (-26°C to 204°C)
  • AFLAS / FEPM 25 °F to 450°F – (-4°C to 232 °C)
  • Kalrez / FFKM 0 °F to 450 °F - (-18°C to 232 °C)
