Viton® made using fluorocarbon materials is used as O-rings as the material has high level of resistance against extreme temperature, oil and chemicals. It is used in chemical processing and automotive.
Viton is often considered a fix all solution to problem elastomer applications. While this may be an exageration it is true that due to it's wide chemical compatibility Viton ® solves many gasket problems. Fuel service is one of those gasket applications where Nitrle (Buna-N) use to be fine, but due to the additives in todays fuels, Viton® is now the solution.
